We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

Hebrews 6:19

As a journalist, I’ve covered many fascinating stories and met incredible people from all around the world. I never imagined one day I would write my own memoir, Beyond the Veil, a story thirty years in the making about what God can do in our lives when we surrender all that remains to Him.

Since then, I feel compelled to keep writing, to keep sharing messages of faith, hope, and love to encourage one woman at a time with biblical verses that inspired my journey towards Jesus Christ. My hope is to remind others of God’s unconditional love, grace, and mercy for His beloved wherever we find ourselves along our spiritual journeys. Whether you’re standing at the ruins of your life or learning who Jesus is for the first time, you are at the heart of this faith blog. Or, maybe the only thing you have left to hold on to is a borrowed Bible and a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey, like I had, with just enough strength to look up, wondering if God is even real, if He cares, if He has ever been present in your life. My desire and prayer are to share the HOPE that anchors my soul today and can be your anchor too.

Allow me to come alongside you and whisper truth into your weary heart a simple message,

We are never without hope because
we are never without Christ.

As a part of this community, I pray I will inspire you to reach for your Bible and find a community of believers to fellowship with. May my words remind you of God’s unconditional love for you…yes, YOU! May you be strengthened in your spiritual walk as you discover your value and worth in who you are in Christ.

Jesus Christ is the only One with the power to silence the storm that roars around us and within us. He is the “anchor for our soul” during the trials and storms of life. The anchor has come to represent the lifeline, the firm foundation and security I longed for and chronicled in my memoir. May you, too, hold on to this lifeline as you journey through life. If there is one thing I learned it is this: “When life threatens to destroy you, no one is beyond God’s reach.”

May God bless you richly and abundantly as we travel this journey together!

Sally

An anchor provides a foundation to prevent one from drifting. In Scripture, the term anchor is used metaphorically to represent God and faith that which keeps us grounded, steadfast, and secure, giving us hope during the trials and storms of life. Hebrew 6 tells us that it is our hope that is the “anchor for your soul.”

Beyond the VeilA Journey of Faith, Hope, and Love across Texas, Rome, and The Holy Land is one woman’s story of despair and deliverance through the love of Jesus Christ.

Buddy and Baby in Rome is a fun story that captures the unlikely friendship between an odd doggy couple and how they learn to rely on each other no matter their shape or size.

Hope Journal

This journal includes devotionals, reflections, passages of Scripture, and everyday moments we can learn from. We’ll go and explore the city of Rome and retrace the footsteps of Saint Peter and Apostle Paul, visiting those sacred locations relevant to their spiritual journeys with photos and video. And, I’ll share songs on my playlist that capture the heart of the Gospel or highlight foods and agriculture present during the time of Christ.
